A reciter from Qena in Upper Egypt with whom Shaykh Abd al-Basit Hashim studied for about twenty years, reading the ten readings with him several times. Chains link him to Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Mutawalli, but that direct link is disputed because al-Mutawalli is reported to have died before he was born.
